India’s telecom sector regulator – TRAI – has launched a mobile application for telecom subscribers to register their complaints against pesky calls and SMSes.
TRAI Chairman RS Sharma said the new mobile app will help people in easily filing complaints and help the authority in monitoring such activities.
The existing option of filing complaints against annoying telemarketing calls through sending SMS to 1909 was not popular.
It was also considered cumbersome by the mobile users. The SMS option was not available for telemarketing calls.
TRAI chairman said: “It will ease filing of complaints and also help us in monitoring action taken by telecom operators on complaints.”
The DND (do not disturb) services mobile app is an easy alternative for filing pesky calls and SMS complaints.
Earlier, subscribers had option of filing complaint by forwarding SMS to 1909 which they received from telemarketers and mention mobile number from which they had received the message along with date of receiving.
TRAI has provided a link to download the DND mobile app.
