Pakistan today claimed that it arrested an agent of India’s external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing from its disturbed province Balochistan.
India admitted today that Kulbhushan Yadav, a RAW agent arrested from Balochistan yesterday, was an officer in its navy, however an official spokesperson denied that the arrested man was linked with the government.
Quoting official sources, Pakistani media, reported that the arrested man was in Balochistan to destabilise the country.
In an unusual move, India’s ministry of external affairs admitted that the arrested man was a former navy officer but refuted the charge that he was working for Indian government.
Vikas Swarup, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said: “He (Kulbhushan Yadav) acquired premature retirement from the Indian navy and since then the government has nothing to do with him.”
Pakistani media reports claimed that Kulbhushan Yadav started to work for RAW in 2013 and was to retire from navy in 2022. The reports claimed that the arrested man was living in Pakistan with a name of Hussain Mubarak Patel, used to enter into Balochistan through Iran, where he was posted since 2003.
Pakistani news outlets further claimed that the operative had contacts with banned organizations and was working on plans to break Karachi and Balochistan away from Pakistan, and to sabotage the billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.Follow Meri Sarkar
