Brussels terror suspect had worked in European Parliament

Najim Laachraoui was already of of the major suspect in Paris attack last November.

According to Belgian media, one of the men who carried out the devastating bomb attacks in Brussels was able to secure a job in European Parliament.

This revelation is important as Belgian capital Brussels is also symbolic capital of European Union and NATO’s headquarter is also located in the city.

32 people were killed in terror attacks on Brussels Airport and a busy metro station on March 22.

As per reports, one of the suspect had two one month long summer jobs in the EU Parliament in 2009 and 2010.

Though the parliament officials did not reveal the suspect’s identity, but quoting official sources, Belgian media reported that he was Najim Laachraoui, one of the airport bombers.

In a related development, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel has defended his country’s approach to fighting terror threats. He asserted taht Belgium was not a failed state.

The Prime Minister said everyone in authority had to take a share of the blame for failings before and after March 22.

Najim Laachraoui, already a major suspect on the run after the Paris attacks in November, was named as one of the two bombers who targeted Zaventem airport.
