An Indian Biotech Company with its headquarters at Hyderabad has announced on Wednesday that it was working on two possible vaccines to fight Zika Virus, which has been related to birth defects in numerous babies in Brazil.
Zica Virus is believed to be spreading rapidly in America and WHO has expressed concerns that it might hit Asia and Africa as well.
One of the two possible vaccines is a “recombinant” , and the other one is “inactivated.” Former vaccine is created by genetic re-engineering and latter one is created by killing a pathogen in such a way that its ability to replicate is destroyed, however the immune system can still recognize it.
