Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has showed cautious optimism in the recovery of Indian Economy by saying that India's GDP growth is likely to be 7 per cent or little more in 2009-10.

Speaking at a function to mark the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Economic Association (IEA) at Bhubaneswar Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the average growth rate has been 8.5 per cent since the Congres led Government assumed office at the centre in 2004.

He said the growth momentum was interrupted by a global economic meltdown last year and the growth rate came down to 6.7 per cent in 2008-09.
