Snowfall in hilly areas; Dense Fog disrupts Rail and Air traffic

The entire northern region, including Panjab, Haryana and national capital Delhi was covered with a thick blanket of fog on Sunday. NCR region also witnessed the first rain on this winter that aggravated chill situation in the region.
Cold conditions forced most people to stay indoor in entire northern belt. Apart from Delhi, some other areas of Jammu and Kashmir also received the showers.
Kashmir valley witnessed the second snowfall of the season which turned several parts of the valley completely covered with white color.
Entire Pirpanchal range is witnessing heavy snowfall since Sunday morning. The Jammu - Srinagar national highway has been closed at Patnitop and at Jawahar Tunnel near Banihal in Ramban district and clearing of snow is going on at various places on the highway.
Yesterday heavy fog and a cable fault resulted in delaying of 28 flights at Delhi airport. As per the information provided by the airport operator DIAL some 23 flights were cancelled due to foggy conditions and 18 flights had been diverted to Mumbai and Ahamedabad airports.
