The union cabinet has given approval for the setting up of seven Indian Institutes of Management in the country. These new IIMs will be set up in the states of Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
In first phase four IIMs will be set up in Ranchi (Jharkhand), Raipur (Chattisgarh), Rohtak (Haryana), Trichurapalli (Tamil Nadu) in this year.
These four IIMs will start functioning from 2010-11 academic season.
The rest of the IIMs will be set up in 2010-11 in Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
