Questioning went on for five hours
After five hour long questioning Narendra Modi on Saturday told the media that it is 'not over yet'. He said that he is likely to come back around 9 pm in the evening for further questioning.
Mr. Modi said in Gandhi Nagar that he had wanted the questioning to be over today itself. He said he has some urgent work to attend to and after talking with SIT officials he would like to come back around 9 pm today.
"By appearing before the SIT, I have made it clear that nobody is above the law or the constitution, he said."
"SIT wrote me a letter that they want to question me on 27 of this month that is why I’m here. They asked me questions for five hours."
Gujarat Chief Minister referred to vested interest behind rumour mongering. He said, "I'd like to make it clear that this SIT is being constituted by the Supreme Court and there is no officer of Gujarat in this SIT. It is directly working under the supervision of the Supreme Court."
Mr. Modi said, "I hope the vested interest would now stop propaganda against him."
However, he did not elaborate about the content and nature of the questions.
Zakia Jafari, widow of Congress MP Ehsan Jafri who was killed in Gulbarg Society massacre by the rioters in 2002, had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court to probe the role of 62 politicians, bureaucrats and police officers including Mr. Modi in this case.
Supreme Court appointed a SIT under the leadership of former CBI Director RK Raghvan to look into the specific allegations.
