While speaking on the occasion Verma expressed happiness over the quality of these durable pre-fabricated homes and complimented Hindustan Prefab Limited(HPL), a GOI enterprise for the excellent work carried out for utilization of funds provided by SAIL. He also assured of all possible support in future also.

Verma was accompanied by Tsering Angchok, DC, Leh, B. B. Singh, Director (Personnel), SAIL and J. Srivastava, CMD, HPL. Tsering Angchok commended SAIL's support at a crucial juncture and expressed gratitude for the same.

SAIL said in a statement, "Being a responsible corporate citizen, SAIL undertook flood relief work in Assam, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in 2007, and in Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in 2008. SAIL also helped Tsunami victims of coastal regions of Tamil Nadu and Andaman & Nicobar in 2004, and earthquake victims of Jammu & Kashmir in 2005. SAIL has contributed towards human cause in the past also, such as to National Defence Fund for helping the families of victims of Kargil War in 1999 and to Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for helping the flood affected people in Orissa in 2001."
