SAIL Chairman CS Verma inaugurated the Vigilance Awareness Period 2010, to be observed from October 25 to November 1, 2010 by administering the pledge 'to bring about integrity and transparency, and eradication of corruption in all spheres of life' to employees of SAIL Corporate Office at Ispat Bhavan here today.

In his inaugural address, SAIL Chairman underlined the role of PSUs as the custodians of public money and the need to maintain fairness, equity and transparency at all levels. While reiterating the national motto of Satyamev Jayate (Truth Alone Triumphs), Verma emphasized on the need for strengthening of entire vigilance apparatus – from complaint handling and proper documentation to timely notification.

SAIL Chairman vouched "securing maximum employee participation through wide-based information and publicity campaigns" as an ideal way to generate employee awareness. "Our decisions must be devoid of any fear or favour", he added as he encouraged employees to share the best vigilance practices among PSUs so as to learn from each-other's experience.

Continuing its annual tradition and in line with CVC's advice of focusing on "Generation of Awareness and Publicity against Corruption", various programmes and events will be organized across all Plants and Units of SAIL.
