Supply Chain was improved under Verma
CMD of India's public sector steel making company - Steel Authority of India Limited - CS Verma received the CEO of the Year 2011 award under Public Sector Category from Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Dr. Tushar A. Chaudhary, at a function held in New Delhi.

Instituted by the Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), the award was given in recognition of Verma's outstanding achievements and significant contributions in the area of Supply Chain Management.

SAIL not only contributes to projects of national importance, but also empowers small consumers of steel in remote areas of the country by making SAIL steel available through its ever widening dealer network.

It is the only steel producer in India to have a dealer in every district of the country. In fact, the rail supply from SAIL to Indian Railways, if joined end-to-end will circumnavigate the earth eight times.

The award ceremony was organized as part of Natcom 2011, a convention organized by IIMM with the theme: Achieving Inclusive and Sustainable Growth - Role of Supply Chains.
