Pranab holds pre budget consultations with exporters and IT Industry
The Finance Minister Mr Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday met the representatives of exporters as part of his pre budget consultation.
President of Federation of Indian Export Organisations, Mr A Shakthivel said that they have made several suggestions to stimulate growth in exports.
These include increase in duty drawback and levies to five per cent and loans to exporters at reduced rate of seven per cent. They have also demanded exemption on service tax and fringe benefit tax. They also wanted the goverment to create a Market Development Fund of Rs. 5000 crore.
Experts say that exporters have been worst hit by the global meltdown.
The Finance Minister also met the representatives of the IT sector on Tuesday.
