Pranab Mukherjee calls an all party meet
The leader of the Lok Sabha and Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has invited leaders of all political parties for a breakfast meeting on Monday to discuss the ways to end the week-long deadlock in Parliament over the mode of discussion on Price rise. The meeting is expected to prepare a formula after the opposition struck to there demand on discussion under a rule which entails voting.

Experts say that this meeting by the leader of the House is yet another effort by the government to ensure hassle free functioning of the two Houses of Parliament. Official sources say, the proposal to break the impasse is to bring a resolution expressing concern at the inflationary pressure and urging the government to contain its impact on economy.

This may finally pave the way for adoption of a unanimous resolution on the issue by the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Though some political parties have indicated their acceptance to the proposal, the main opposition BJP is yet to respond.

Political observers say it is high time for the opposition to see reason and allow the two Houses to function as many important issues and passage of legislations is awaiting the approval of Parliament which was unable to transact any business last week.
