6 students cleared IIT-JEE: Chaturvedi
POWERGRID, as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, sponsored 10 students from Utkarsh Superb 30 Delhi Centre, in collaboration with Corporate Social Responsibility & Leadership (CSR & L) and 6 of them got through IIT, with the rest also likely to get through NITs or other reputed institutes.
CSR & L is an organization which provides free coaching for IIT-JEE to meritorious students from marginalized sections of the society.
POWERGRID provided financial assistance towards selection of students, creation of infrastructure, operational cost, manpower cost & overall management of the project for the benefit of less blessed children, who have the merit but not the means to achieve their dream of making it to IIT.
Amongst the six students who have cleared the examination, Arjun has achieved a remarkable feat by securing 284th rank in this stiff competition despite his poor economic condition.
His father is a labourer in Palam area of Delhi, whose day starts with the thought and planning for meeting the demands of the day for his 6 family members. The socio-economic conditions dispirited Arjun to approach any coaching institute, and at this crucial juncture, POWERGRID provided the fillip to his career through this CSR initiative.
