Prime Minister's office has expressed regret on the inclusion of the uniformed photograph of former Chief of Pakistan Air Force Tanveer Anwar Mehmood in a government ad issued by the Ministry of Women and Child Development on National Girl Child Day on Sunday.

The Ministry issued full page ads in National dailies that carried the photograph of PAF Chief along with the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

The government has regretted the error and ordered an internal inquiry into the lapse.

The PMO issued a statement saying, "The Prime Minister's Office has noted with regret the inclusion of a foreign national's photograph in a Government of India advertisement. While an internal enquiry has been instituted, the PMO apologises to the public for this lapse."
