ONGC sports persons make India proud in Asian Games

ONGC's Asian Games Medal Winners
Sporting heroes from ONGC made a significant contribution to India's proud moments at Guangzhou, bagging 4 golds, 3 silvers and 4 Bronzes out of over all tally of 14 golds, 17 silvers, 33 bronzes, which the Indian contingent secured to claim sixth position.

ONGC CMD R.S. Sharma felicitated the ONGC players at the Corporate Office, New Delhi on November 29, 2010 and congratulated the players for bringing home the rich tally of medals from Asiad.

Sharma also announced cash awards to the Medal winners. Cheques of Rs 5 lakh for the Gold medalists, Rs. 3 lakh for the silver medalists and Rs 2 Lakh for the Bronze medalists were handed over to the players at the felicitation function today.

Out of total 64 medals won by Indian Contingent 11 have been contributed by ONGCians. This perhaps is largest contribution from any single organization. Twenty six of ONGC cadres participated in the Asiad this year representing India.

It is noteworthy that in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games too, thirteen ONGCians had won ten medals which included two gold medals.

R. S. Sharma while speaking on this occasion remarked that ONGC has been growing as an important contributor for national sports. After marking noteworthy performance for India in CWG, ONGC sportspersons yet again proved their prowess in Asiad.

Sharma underlined that a number one PSU amongst 246 Public Sectors companies, ONGC had also been ranked at 18 amongst all global energy companies. Our sporting performance has also been consistently high with large tally at recent CWG and now at Asiad. At last Asiad also ONGCians had won 8 out of 10 Golds.
