The government said on Monday that all nuclear installations are absolutely secure. The Minister of State in the Prime Minister's office Mr. Prithviraj Chavan said that there are multiple levels of security and that Central Industrial Security Force has beefed up the security of Nuclear plants across the country.
His remarks came in the wake of reports that Centre has asked the state governments having nuclear installations to tighten security around such facilities to foil any possible terror attack.
Center reportedly alerted the state governments in this regard on the basis of reports that US born LeT terrorist David Headly visited some of the states where Nuclear plants are located. As per the reports Headly visited Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh and all three states have nuclear plants.
This revelation raised the fear of possible terror attacks on India's Nuclear sites.
