No compromise on sovereignty in arrangement with US: Govt
The Government on Tuesday asserted that no compromise has been made on national sovereignty on end-use monitoring arrangements for US defence purchases.
Making a statement in the two Houses and later the clarification in the Rajya Sabha, the External Affairs Minister, Mr. SM Krishna said it systematizes the ad hoc arrangements for individual defence procurements from the USA. These include defence procurements by previous governments as well.
Unconvinced by the Minister's reply, the opposition walked out from both Houses of Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Congress has criticised the opposition's reaction on the End Use Arrangement with the United States and termed their mindset as outdated.
The BJP on the other hand described the End Use Monitoring Arrangement as against the interest of the country.
