NTPC enters into Power Purchase Agreement with GRIDCO

Orissa to get power from NTPC
|
NTPC on Monday has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with GRIDCO Limited of Orissa for sale of power from its proposed projects at Darlipali and Talcher Thermal Expansion in Orissa. This agreement also envisages sale of electricity to GRIDCO from NTPC's plant located at Katwa in West Bengal and Pirpainti and Muzaffarpur Stage II in Bihar. These plants will be commissioned during the 12th plan period. PPA for Farakka Stage III in West Bengal has also been signed. The project is to be commissioned in the current fiscal.
The agreement was signed by VK Padha, General Manager (Commercial) and D Bhattacharya, CEO, KBUNL on behalf of NTPC and AC Mallick, Director, Commercial on behalf of GRIDCO in presence of Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Energy Minister of Orissa, PK Jena, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Deptt. of Energy, Government of Orissa, H. Sharma, Managing Director, GRIDCO and Inderjit Kapoor, Director(Commercial) and KK Sharma, Regional Executive Director (East II) of NTPC.
Darlipali (3200 Megawtt), Talcher Thermal Expansion (1320 Megawtt), Katwa (1600 Megawtt), Pirpainti (1320 Megawtt) and Farakka Stage III (500 Megawtt) are being developed by NTPC, while Muzaffarpur Stage II (2 x 195 MW) is being implemented by subsidiary company of NTPC in JV with Bihar State Electricity Board. Eastern Region states will be beneficiary of entire power produced at these projects.
NTPC said in a statement, "The Company has also undertaken a series of community development programmes in the region under its CSR Policy. These included health care at the doorsteps of the people, drinking water in the vicinity villages and provision of supply of electricity in 5 km radius areas of its power projects/stations."
The company has also planned to set up a Medical College in Orissa.
