NTPC signs MoU with Power Ministry

NTPC Ltd. and Ministry of Power signed The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the year 2011-12 in New Delhi. The MOU was signed between Secretary (Power), P. Umashankar, and CMD, NTPC Arup Roy Choudhury in presence of senior officials of Ministry of Power and NTPC Ltd.

As per MOU (2011-12), NTPC is targeting to achieve 235000 Million Units (MUs) of electricity generation under 'excellent category'. NTPC has also committed to add capacity of 4320 MW from its own and JV projects during the year.

In addition, activities in the area of Research and Development, Human Resource Development, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance and Sustainable Development are also part of MOU (2011-12).

The company said in a statement: "NTPC is fulfilling power needs of the country through its 15 coal-based, 7 gas-based and 6 joint venture power stations, thereby bringing about the economic and social growth of the country. The company has been conferred with coveted 'Maharatna' status by the government for its outstanding achievements over the years. The company has a total installed capacity of 33694 MW at present."
