NTPC pays the highest ever Interim Dividend to Government of India

RS Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, NTPC presented an advice confirming the credit of Rs. 2090.21 crore into Government of India's account to union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Power Secretary HS Brahma and other seniour officials of Power Ministry and NTPC were present on the occasion.

This is the highest ever interim dividend paid by NTPC to the Government of India.

The Public Sector Power Utility paid a dividend of Rs 3 per equity share being 30% of the paid-up equity share capital of the Company amounting to Rs. 2473.64 crore for the Financial Year 2009-10.

Government of India holds 84.5 per cent equity in the company. NTPC paid Rs. 2090.21 crore to the government as per the government's holding in the paid up equity of the company.

This is the Seventeenth consecutive year that NTPC has declared dividend.
