One year has passed since Mumbai witnessed one of the worst terror attacks anywhere in the world. The last year's attack on Mumbai left 163 people dead including 28 foreigners. More than 300 people were wounded in the attack - some of them left crippled for life.
On the eve of the first anniversary of the attacks on Wednesday, various functions were held across Mumbai. A candle light vigil was held at Gateway of India.
A memorial service was organized at Keneseth Synagogue which was attended by Israeli Ambassador, Mr. Mark Sopher along with Consul Generals from US, Italy Canada and Germany.
Many functions including a security parade by Mumbai Police will be held on Thursday to mark the anniversary of 26/11.
Security forces killed nine out of ten Pakistani terrorists that came to the city via sea route in 60 hour long gun battle and police captured lone surviving terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, who is facing trial at a special TADA court in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail.
India's top prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam has said that he will try to finish the hearing of the case by today i.e. November 26, 2009.
In a related development an anti terror court of Pakistan has framed charges against 7 Pakistani terrorists including the mastermind and operation commander of Lashkar-a-Taiyyaba – Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi.
