Following a directive from Petroleum Minister, Mr. Murli Deora to provide cheaper and environment friendly fuel, Mumbai's Mahanagar Gas Limited - MGL on Thursday announced to invest over Rupees 300 crore in the current fiscal to provide piped gas to more households in Mumbai and also to set up 17 CNG stations.
MGL currently supplies piped gas to 3.91 households in Mumbai and plans to add 55,000 new households this year. According to MGL, using natural gas as fuel helps reduce about 800 tones of pollutants on a daily basis. MGL plans to source gas for the new consumers from Reliance Industries' KG basin.
