Maoists responsible for the attack: Govt.
The home minister P Chidambaram said on Monday that the government may revisit its anti-Maoist policy at a cabinet meeting on security soon. This assumes significance in the wake of a surge in Left-wing attacks that have killed over 300 people since the beginning of the year.

In response to a question on use of air power against the Naxals, he said that the scribes would soon be informed about any decision taken by the government in this regard.

Speaking on the recent derailment of Gyaneshwari Express in West Bengal, he said that the needle of suspicion points to Maoists or their front organizations. He has been told by West Bengal government and police officers that there was no trace of any explosives in Gyaneswari Express attack.

Mr. Chidambaram said prima facie it appears track was cut. The Home Minister said that over three hundred thirty one crore rupees have been released to nine Naxal affected states for work plans in Maoists infested areas.
