Manmohan Singh asks Russia to put pressure on Pakistan

Before leaving for Russia on a three day state visit Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has asked Russian leaders to put pressure on Pakistan so that it can be dissuaded from using terrorism as a state policy against India.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is of the view that as a great power Russia can use its influence over Pakistan.
However, he referred Pakistan as a 'neighbouring country' and avoided naming it directly. He said that India faces terror inspired, instigated and aided by that country.
He was speaking to Russian media before leaving for that country.
Prime Minister said, "If Pakistan stops allowing the use of its territory against India then both the countries can cooperate in various ways."
It is the Prime Minister's sixth visit to Russia since he first assumed office in 2004. He will be meeting with Russian President Demitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Two sides are also expected to discuss the issues related to cooperation in Civil Nuclear Energy, Defence purchases among other things.
