LG eyes 35% share in flat panel display market

Consumer durables major LG Electronics India has said it is eying 35 percent market share in the flat panel display market. The market size for the flat panel display is estimated 14.5 lakh units per year. LG Plans a new range of 'Scarlet series' of LCD televisions in the country.

"With the launch of the SCARLET 2.0 series, we plan to capture around 35 percent of the estimated 14.5 lakh units FPD market by year end. Currently, we are having around 26 per cent share in the market," LGEIL Business Group Marketing Head Home Entertainment and B2B Amitabh Tiwari said in a statement on Tuesday.

The company said the new Scarlet series is built using the In-Plane Switching Panel Technology (IPS, which offers higher resolution at a low power consumption.

"Post the overwhelming response we received from Scarlet I which contributed a remarkable 20 per cent of total FPD Sales, LGEIL decided to revive the unique experience with an even more advanced product in terms of style & design," Tiwari said

Scarlet 2.0 series from LG is available in TruMotion 100Hz full high definition format in 47 inches, 42 inches and 32 inches screen size at a price ranging from Rs 50 thousand to Rs. 1 lakh, the company added.
