Parliament proceedings disrupted on Wednesday
Proceedings in Parliament were disrupted on Wednesday over the issues of alleged illegal mining in Karnataka and reported clean chit by the CBI to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Sohrabuddin encounter case.
Both the Houses witnessed noisy and repeated adjournments over these issues. As soon as the Lok Sabha was convened for the day, BSP members trooped into the well waving placards demanding dismissal of the BJP-led government in Karnataka, while Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad waved copies of a newspaper carrying reports relating to the Sohrabuddin case. The House was adjourned till noon.
When the House reassembled, the situation was no different and after the tabling of standing committee report on Civil Nuclear Liability Bill and other papers, the House was adjourned till 2 PM. As there was no let up in the situation, the House was adjourned for the Day.
Trouble erupted in the Rajya Sabha also from the beginning as BSP members carrying banners moved into the well of the house and started raising slogans demanding dismissal of the Karnataka government on the mining issue, leading to its adjournment till noon.
The Left members supported by RJD and LJP, also created uproar over reports of the clean chit to Mr Modi allegedly in return for BJP support for the Civil Nuclear Liability Bill. RJD and BSP members as also LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan stormed into the well of the House. The report of the Parliamentary committee was tabled in the house in the din and it was adjourned for the day.
Mr Ram Vilas Paswan and RJD MPs later sat on a dharna near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament House complex, protesting what they called the clean chit to Modi as part of the Congress-BJP deal.
