Interest subsidy on education loan for weaker section enhanced
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its green signal for a scheme to provide full interest subsidy during the period of moratorium on loans taken by students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society.
Home Minister P Chidambaram said that this will benefit about 5 lakh students in getting technical and professional education . The scheme will be applicable for students whose family annual income's upper limit does not exceed 4.5 lakh rupees.
The scheme will be applicable from the current year.
