Namdhari escaped unhurt
Independent MP Inder Singh Namdhari on Saturday narrowly escaped a Maoist attack in Latehar district, but police casualties were feared as his escort vehicle came under the impact of an explosion at Ladu More, about 160 km from Ranchi.
"The MP was returning after attending a function at Mahuatand in Latehar when an explosion took place at Ladu More. But his escort vehicle came under the impact of the explosion, leading to the fear of casualties," Inspector General of Police (Operation) R K Malik was quoted as saying by local media.
At least eight police personnel were in the escort jeep, Malik said.
The Inspector General of Police (Zonal), Rezi Dungdung, said additional forces were rushed to the spot under the leadership of an assistant commandant of the CRPF.
"We can give details after they reach there," Dungdung said when asked if there was any casualties in the attack.
Contacted, Namdhari said he was returning after attending a function in Latehar when his car shook under the impact of the explosion.
"My escort vehicle was behind my car when we heard the explosion. My driver speeded away after the blast," the former Assembly speaker told the news agency over phone after safely reaching Medininagar.
