Home Secretary GK Pilliai had clarified his comments on Hyderabad as the capital of the proposed Telengana state.

Union Home Ministry issued a statement on its website saying that all he wanted to say is that supporters of a separate Telengana State wanted Hyderabad to be the capital of it.

The Ministry said in its clarification that the home secretary just responded to a question posed by journalists and it was quoted out of the context and he never stated that Hyderabad would be the capital of proposed Telangana State.

The Home Ministry said the issue of the Capital for the proposed new State of Talengana for which steps have been initiated is a matter that is to be decided by consensus and by the Central Government.
