Central government has initiated steps to strip former Haryana DGP Shambhu Pratap Singh Rathore of the police medal given to him.

Home Secretary GK Pillai said that the matter will be placed before an awards committee which will meet on the 4th of next month. He also said that the steps will be taken to issue show cause notice to Rathore on the matter.

Haryana government has decided to revisit the cases against former DGP SPS Rathore for his involvement in Ruchika molestation and harassment of the family.

The cases will be reopened following legal consultations. An announcement to this effect was made by the Haryana Chief Minsiter Bhopinder Singh Hooda while talking to reporters in New Delhi on Saturday.

He also instructed senior police officials to provide full security to Ruchika's family.

Haryana Police has removed information related to former DGP Rathore from its official website. Ruchika's Family says they will file a suit in High Court to claim compensation of Rs. one crore for damage caused by DGP Rathore to family's prestige.
