Hooda government has decided to relax the stock limit in the state on food grains stored by wholesalers and retailers.
A senior official of Haryana government said in Chandigarh on Monday that with the relaxation in stock limit retailers and wholesalers will now be able to maintain bigger stock of food grain commodities.
On the condition of anonymity this seniour official of the state food and supply department said that decision to review the stock limit was taken after arrival of fresh crops and demands from the traders.
As per the new proposal wholesalers and retailers would be able to stock 2,500 quintals of wheat instead of 1,000 quintals.
In case of rice, there is a proposal to raise stock limit for wholesalers from 1,000 quintals to 2,000 quintals and for retailers, the limit will be 100 quintals instead of 50 quintals.
The department has also recommended raising stock limit substantially for pulses and edible oils.
Haryana Govt. has decided not to change the stock limits for flourmills.
