Gujarat Assembly passes GUJCOC Bill without changes
Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday passed the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organized Crime Bill returned by the President of India. The State Assembly passed the bill after rejecting the changes suggested by the President while returning the bill to the State Government.
The Bill was passed unanimously by the ruling BJP members in the absence of the Opposition Congress. The Opposition has been boycotting the Assembly proceedings as their demand for debate on the recent hooch tragedy has not been accepted by Speaker Ashok Bhatt.
The President had returned the GUJCOC Bill last month passed by the state Assembly in 2004, after the advice by the Union Cabinet.
