Govt. will continue the area domination policy: Home Minister
Union home minister P. Chidambaram told Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the government will continue the policy of establishing administrative control in the Naxal infested areas of the country.
However, he said that the government will not bank on military strategy alone and it will ensure that development works take place in those areas.
Opposition parties vehemently criticized the government's approach to deal with the Naxal problem.
During a discussion in the Rajya Sabha they alleged that the government officials and bureaucrats do not have the full understanding of the Naxal problem and severely criticized the government for failing to prevent the massacre of CRPF personnel.
However, P. Chidambaram appealed to members not to draw any conclusion for the massacre before the E N Ram Mohan Committee submits its report to the government the next week.
The Committee was constituted immediately after the massacre and was asked to submit its report within 15 days.
