Govt. to inject additional funds in Air India

Union government has said that it is willing to inject more funds into cash strapped national carrier Air India provided it saves at least Rs. 2,000 crores in this financial year.
Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today said in New Delhi that based on the national carrier's performance, the government would be able to finally take a call on what would be its final support.
Mr. Arvind Jadhav, CMD, NACIL and Civil Aviation Secretary Mr. M Madhavan Nambiar recently made a presentation about the company's plan to enhance the savings and reduce the costs before a Group of Minister headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
The airline showed a net loss of about 5,550 crore rupees in 2008-09, is seeking a total equity infusion of 5,000 crore rupees.
