Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said, the economy could grow by 7.5 to 8 per cent during the current financial year, though price rise and fiscal consolidation remained areas of concern.

Addressing the 104th annual session of the industry chamber PHDCCI in New Delhi on Wednesday, he said that the mid year reveiw projected a growth rate of 7.75 per cent, but it would be more appropriate to say 7.5 to 8 per cent.

On the back of the good news the BSE Sensex also surged 539 points on Wednesday. This is the Sensex's highest level in past seven months.
