Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda arrested

The state's vigilance commission has arrested former chief minster Madhu Koda. The authorities waited for nearly two months after registering a case against Madhu Koda before formally arresting him.
Madhu Koda was arrested from Chaibasa district in the state on Monday morning. He is arrested in connection with disporoportionate asset and prevention of money laundering case against him.
He kept avoiding questioning by the authorities and some time back local media quoted him as saying that he would only face the questioning by the Enforcement Officials after the state assembly elections are over.
Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax department and state vigilance commission are investigating the case jointly. Enforcement Directorate Officials are also likely to join in the questioning.
During raids on his premises, the IT department had claimed to have found evidence of hawla transactions and illegal investments running into more than 2,000 crore rupees. Enforcement officials registered a case against Madhu Koda in this regard the last month.
