Election Commission is on a 3 day visit to Bihar
In Bihar, leaders of different political parties have requested the Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi to deploy central para-military forces at every booth. They also requested the election commission to eliminate mistakes in the electoral rolls and not to deploy tainted officers on election duties during the forthcoming assembly elections.
Leaders of Congress, BJP, JD (U), RJD, LJP, NCP, BSP, CPI and CPM have submitted their memoranda and apprised the commission of their demands.
The full Election Commission team headed by the Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi arrived at Patna on Sunday afternoon on a three-day visit to oversee election preparations for the assembly polls in the state. The Chief Election commissioner is accompanied by the Election commissioner V.S. Sampath and Deputy Election commissioner Vinod Jutshi.
SY Quraishi held review meeting with the Bihar Chief Electoral officers Sudhir Kumar Rakesh and other state election officers. The commission is expected to announce the dates for the assembly polls after reviewing the election preparedness.
The Chief Election Commissioner will hold discussions with District Magistrates and SPs of the districts of the state on Monday to ensure peaceful polling during assembly elections.
After that he will hold talks with Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the state. The election commission had already sought details on the 13 points including deployment of paramilitary forces, Number of sensitive booths, execution of non-bailable warrants, and matter regarding transfer of those officers who have been posted at one place for the last three years.
