The government has decided to allow duty free imports of essential commodities to check the price rise.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in West Bengal on Sunday, "The state governments and private players have been allowed to import Sugar, Pulses, Edible Oils to deal with the price rise situation."

Pranab Mukherjee said that that recent increase of the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) by Reserve Bank of India will help in controlling price rise.
