No final decision on summoning Narengra Modi: Nanawati Comm.
The Nanavati Commission that is probing the 2002 Gujarat riots has informed the Gujarat high court on Thursday that its earlier decision not to summon Chief Minister Narendra Modi was "not final".
The Commission has clarified its position in response to a query by the High court on March 22 on whether the decision not to summon Modi for questioning was tentative or final.
The State advocate general Kamal Trivedi produced a letter in the court written by secretary of Nanavati Commission in this regard, on Thursday.
Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court SJ Mukhopadhaya and Justice Akil Qureshi said in their order that according to Nanavati Commission's reply its order of September 18, 2009 for not to summon Chief Minister Narendra Modi is not final.
In view of the letter submitted by the Nanavati commission, the matter has been adjourned till 17th June.
The high court had asked the government pleader to seek the clarification over the issue while hearing an appeal filed by an NGO Jan Sangarsh Manch.
