India's civil aviation regulator - the Directorate General of Civial Aviation (DGCA), has de-rostered six pilots of three airline operators - Kingfisher, Go Air and Air India following a plane skid in Mumbai.
The aviation regulator took this decision after the skidding of King Fisher aircraft in Mumbai on Tuesday. It has also issued show-cause notices to three operators for alleged violation of its directions regarding wet runway operations.
The DGCA ordered investigation into the incident and also issued fresh guidelines to all airlines to avoid recurrence of such incidents. It is also undertaking a safety assessment for short runway operations at Mumbai international airport.
The guidelines say that no operation shall take place when runway surface is wet. Pilots are required to file de-briefing report after every flight.
As reported in Media, the King Fisher aircraft skidded off the runway while landing at Mumbai, resulting in the damage of the aircraft. However, all passengers and crew were evacuated safely.
