India said that a three page draft prepared by host Denmark will be the focus of discussions on the last day of the Climate summit in Copenhagen.
Official sources said the draft has been prepared on the basis of the reports submitted by the two groups constituted to examine the Kyoto Protocol and Bali Action Plan. Indian representatives did not rule out a short communiqué at the end of the summit, on the basis of the draft.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who arrived at Copenhagen to attend COP is likely to make a strong pitch to continue negotiations on contentious issues even after the summit.
In his brief intervention at the plenary, Dr. Singh may also impress on preserving areas where consensus have been reached including the Kyoto Protocol, Bali Action Plan and United Nations Framework Convension on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Indian Prime Minister will meet his Chinese counterpart Wen Jibao and discuss the way forward in consolidating the stand of developing countries at the summit.
Earlier, Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said that the sustained pressure by the developing countries led to the resumption of the two-track climate negotiations in Copenhagen. He said, the negotiations resumed on the two tracks.
However, Mr. Jairam Ramesh accused Danes for keeping the outcome of political statement under warps saying it has no precedent in any previous global negotiations.
