Thick fog engulfed the cities and towns across the northern region on Tuesday morning as intensity of Cold waves have further increased in past two days.
The winter chill further aggravated in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh with the mercury nose-diving by up to seven degrees below normal.
Met office said, Amritsar was the coldest place in the region, recording a minimum of zero degree Celsius.
Ambala recorded a low of 0.3 degree Celsius, while it was 0.9 degrees at Rohtak.
Mercury in Chandigarh dipped to 3.2 degrees below the normal.
In Himachal Pradesh, Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district, with a night temperature of minus 9.7 degree Celsius remained the coldest place.
Mount Abu remained the coldest place in Rajasthan with a minimum temperature of one degree Celsius.
A chilly morning with a mist cover greeted people in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas.
