Charge sheet filed against MNS Chief Raj Thackeray in railway examination assault case

Mumbai Police has filed a 73-page charge sheet in a local court against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena - MNS Chief Raj Thackeray and 20 others for rioting and assaulting North Indian candidates who went in to appear for a Railway Recruitment examination in 2008.
Raj Thackeray was arrested on October 21 but was granted bail the same day. As per the reports all the accused have been charged under various sections of the IPC such as 142 for unlawful assembly, 144 for joining unlawful assembly with deadly weapons.
The accused have also been charged under 153 (A) for promoting enmity between different groups on various grounds and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, 153(B) for imputations prejudicial to National Integration), and 506 for criminal intimidation.
After handing over copies of the charge sheet to the accused, the Magistrate at the Bandra Court fixed September 13, 2010 as the next date of hearing in the case.
