Union Home Ministry has sent 1,200 paramilitary personnel to violence hit Punjab and Haryana.
Sectarian violence erupted in the states after CBI filed a fresh murder case Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
Home secretary GK Pillai told reporters in New Delhi on Sunday that the center has asked state governments to take stern against those breaking law and order.
Mr. Pillai said that his ministry is keeping Prime Minister abreast about the developments. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is in Saudi Arabia on an official visit.
Last evening, Dera Sachhca Sauda supporters went on a rampage. They set four trains on fire and several buses in the protest of filing the fresh case against Ram Raheem Singh.
