As usual Sydney became the world's first major city to celebrate the New Year. Nearly 1.5 million people assembled at the world famous Harbour to enjoy fireworks at display on the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Meanwhile, across the globe is waiting to embrace the New Year 2010 as the zero hour approaches as per the local time zone.

In India, this time celebration is not confined to four metros and other major cities of the country. Every city, town and village geared up for celebration.

Heavy Police arrangement has been put in place in Delhi on the eve of New Year. Delhi Police said that it will check all the vehicles entering Delhi thoroughly to avoid the entry of unwanted elements in the city.

Major hotels across the world have been decorated with colorful lights to welcome the New Year.
