Cabinet gives approval for security cooperation agreement with UAE
The Union Cabinet has given its approval to sign the Agreement on Security Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of United Arab Emirates.
The Agreement, once signed, will establish an institutional framework for cooperation between India and UAE in their fight against terrorism in all its forms.
It will facilitate initiatives to curb activities of terrorist and organized criminal groups and help to coordinate the approach to combat international terrorism, organized crime and drug trafficking, illicit trafficking in weapons, ammunition, explosives, radioactive and nuclear material, human trafficking, money laundering, counterfeiting of currency and official documents, economic crimes and corruption and cyber crime.
It will also provide for mutual technical assistance including exchange of professional expertise and training of security and law enforcement personnel and organizing seminars and conferences.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has so far signed similar Agreements or Memorandum of Understanding with with Cambodia, Cyprus and Vietnam.
