Board exams for Class 10th to be optional from next year

HRD minister Kapil Sibal has said that class 10th Board Examination will be made optional in all CBSE Schools from next year. A proposal to this effect was approved by the Central Advisory Board on Education, CABE at its meeting in New Delhi on Monday.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Sibal said a grading system in class 10 will also be introduced in all CBSE Schools from the current academic session.

He said, the Advisory Board also decided to set up an authority for higher education and research in the country. Its functions will be distinct from regulatory functions. He informed that a task force has been set up for the purpose.
