Arabic television station Al-Jazeera aired a purported audio tape of Osama Bin Laden in which he claimed the responsibility for the failed bombing attempt to blow up an US bound aircraft.

Nigerian national Faruq Umar Abdulmutallab had attempted to blow up a Detroit bound North-West aircraft on Christmas last year by hiding explosives in his underwear.

In this message addressed to the US President Barak Obama, the elusive leader of al-Qaida (the base) has compared the failed attack to 9/11.

In the recorded message, Laden also vowed to carry out more attacks on the US if it continued to support Israel.

Laden said, "The message delivered to you through the plane of the heroic warrior Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was a confirmation of the previous messages sent by the heroes of the September 11.

"America will never dream of security unless we will have it in reality in Palestine. God willing, our raids on you will continue as long as your support for the Israelis continues,” he said.

Western Intelligence Agencies believe that the voice in the tape is similar to that of previous tapes of Bin Laden.

But they were not immediately able to prove the authenticity of the tape.

The tape was aired by Al-Jazeera on Sunday. However, the channel did not disclose as to how the tape reached to it.

The US President blamed al-Qaida in Arabian Peninsula for planning the attack.
