The Bihar government has sought 4,000 additional paramilitary personnel from the Union Government to deal with the sudden spurt in Naxal violence in the state. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar made this request after the bullet riddled body of Bihar police havildar Lucas Tete was found in Lakhi Sarai district of the state.

Maoists still have three policemen in their captivity and there is no confirm reports about their safety and whereabouts. Earlier, a self proclaimed Maoist spokesperson claimed that the Guerrillas have killed Bihar police sub inspector Abhay Yadav.

However, police recovered the body of a police man which was later identified as Havildar Lucas Tete.

Superintendent of Police, Lakhisarai, Ranjit Kumar Mishra said a body found in the Simra Tari Sringirishi dam under Kajra police station in the district had been identified that of one of the kidnapped policemen - Lucas Tete.

Mishra said the body of Tete was found lying in a pool of blood on a road in the forests surrounded by hills.

Sources in Bihar government said a comprehensive plan is being worked out to launch a joint operation along the Bihar-Jharkhand border to flush out militants hiding there.

Around 2,400 paramilitary personnel are already in Bihar assisting the state police in dealing with the Maoists.

The request for 40 companies (each company having around 100 personnel) is being examined by the Home Ministry and a decision will be taken soon, official sources said.
